Hygglo Care is designed to make renting simple, safe, and worry-free.

It is automatically included with every rental on Hygglo and helps protect you and the items you rent through built-in protection and security checks, secure payments, and responsive support. With Hygglo Care, you can borrow what you need with confidence while contributing to a more sustainable way of living.


Verified borrowers and secure rentals

Before you can rent an item through Hygglo, you need to complete our identity verification process.

The type of verification required can vary depending on your country, the value of the item, and its category. It may include confirming your name, address, phone number, and identity document, such as BankID in the Nordics.

Verification helps make the rental experience safer and more reliable for everyone.

For borrowers, verification means:

  • More trust between both sides. Verified borrowers are seen as trusted members of the community, which helps lenders feel confident accepting rental requests. This can increase your chances of approval, especially for high-value or in-demand items.

  • Faster help if something goes wrong. Verified information makes it easier for Hygglo to confirm who was involved and resolve issues or claims quickly and fairly.

  • A more reliable rental environment. Identity checks help Hygglo maintain a community built on accountability and trust, where lenders feel comfortable sharing their items. This means more items available to rent safely.

  • A healthier and fairer platform. By filtering out fraudulent profiles and misuse, verification helps keep the platform secure and the insurance and guarantee fees lower for everyone.

Protection for borrowers

Hygglo Care includes protection if something unexpected happens during your rental.

Through Hygglo Care, all rentals are protected against sudden and unforeseen damage, theft, or loss that may occur during a verified rental. The protection is provided through our insurance partner or the Lender Guarantee, depending on your market and item category.

With Hygglo Care, you benefit from:

  • Protection for accidental damage within the applicable limits and terms

  • Secure payments and refund processes

  • Help and advice from our support team if an issue occurs

While Hygglo Care covers accidental damage, you must take good care of the items you rent. Damage caused by negligence, misuse or unsafe handling may not be covered, and you could be held responsible for covering the costs in such instances.

Hygglo Care includes access to the relevant protection in your country, but it is important that you familiarise yourself with the insurance and guarantee terms that apply to your rentals to ensure full understanding of the coverage.

Cancellations and refunds

Life happens, and sometimes plans change. Hygglo Care also supports fairness when this occurs, ensuring that both borrowers and lenders are treated reasonably.

If you need to cancel a booking, your refund will depend on the cancellation policy chosen by the lender. You can always check the policy on the item’s listing before confirming your booking to understand when you need to cancel to receive a full refund.

If a lender cancels a confirmed rental, you will always receive a full refund, including all fees, no matter when the cancellation occurs. This ensures you never pay for something you do not receive.

Even when a booking is cancelled, both sides can leave a rating and review. This helps maintain transparency and accountability, and discourages last-minute cancellations without a valid reason.

If something happens

If something unexpected happens during your rental, please contact the lender as soon as possible to inform them of the situation.

Our team will help guide both you and the lender through the next steps. The lender is responsible for submitting any damage or loss claim, but you may be asked to share information to help with the process.

You might be asked to provide:

  • Photos or videos of the damage

  • A short description of what happened

  • Details of when and where the incident occurred

  • A police report if the item was taken from you during the rental

Each case is reviewed carefully, and our goal is to help resolve it in a fair and transparent way for both parties.
