How am I protected when I rent through Hygglo?

Updated today

Every rental on Hygglo includes protection against damage, theft, or loss. The exact coverage depends on which market you rent in and what type of item it is.

Hygglo offers this protection through a combination of Omocom Insurance, Hygglo Vehicle Guarantee and the Hygglo Lender Guarantee.

  • The lender must have their own insurance (boat/vehicle insurance)

Responsible use

All items rented through Hygglo must be handled responsibly. Coverage does not apply in cases of clear carelessness, such as misuse, neglecting to secure an item, or leaving it unattended in a public place. In such situations, the borrower will be held responsible for compensating the lender for any resulting loss or damage.

What is not covered

Applies to all markets.

  • Normal wear and tear or minor cosmetic marks.

  • Cash, jewellery, alcohol, tobacco or live animals.

  • Pre-existing damage, manufacturing faults or poor maintenance.

  • Loss due to careless packaging or handling.

  • Items lost or damaged by couriers or postal services.

  • Damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence (the borrower remains responsible).

  • Third-party liability or personal injuries (covered by mandatory vehicle insurance when applicable).

How to report damage or loss

If something happens during your rental, please follow these steps:

  1. Tell the lender immediately. As soon as you notice damage, loss, or a problem with the item, inform the lender.

  2. The lender must submit the claim. All damage or loss claims must be filed by the lender, not the borrower.

  3. You may be asked for more information. Once the claim has been started, either Omocom or Hygglo’s Resolutions Team may request additional details from you, such as:

    • A description of what happened

    • For vehicles: information needed to process the excess
