Film and photography equipment rented out on Hygglo is protected against sudden and unforeseen damage, theft, or loss during the rental period, either through Omocom’s insurance (Nordics) or the Hygglo Lender Guarantee (UK, US, Canada).
These items follow the same terms as the general protection, but with higher compensation limits.
Important disclaimer

Where the protection comes from
Market | Type of protection | Provided by |
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland | Omocom All-Risk Insurance + Excess Compensation. Drones are handled through the Hygglo Lender Guarantee. | Omocom & Hygglo |
United Kingdom, United States, Canada | Hygglo Lender Guarantee | Hygglo Ltd |
What is covered
The protection for Film & Photo equipment includes:
Sudden and unforeseen damage resulting from external events
Theft during the rental period
Loss during the rental period
Damage to lenses, accessories and attached equipment listed in your item description
Drones and drone accessories
Rentals of up to 90 consecutive days
Bookings made and paid through Hygglo
Rentals involving private individuals or businesses
Compensation is based on the market value of the item immediately before the damage happened.
Coverage applies to the item and its listed accessories, up to the Film & Photo compensation limits.
Excess / self-risk
No excess applies for Film & Photo equipment.
Compensation limits
Film and photography equipment has higher compensation limits than general items.
These limits are the maximum amounts payable. This means they are not guaranteed payout amounts. The final compensation is still based on the item’s market value immediately before the damage and the applicable protection terms.
Film & Photo compensation limits by market
Market | Maximum compensation limit |
Sweden, Norway, Denmark | Up to 100,000 SEK / NOK / DKK |
Finland | Up to 10,000 EUR |
UK, US, Canada | Up to £10,000 / US$10,000 / CA$10,000 per Film & Photography Rental Occasion |
UK, US & Canada: how the Film & Photo limit works
For rentals covered by the Hygglo Lender Guarantee in the UK, US and Canada, the Film & Photo limit applies per Film & Photography Rental Occasion.
This means the £10,000 / US$10,000 / CA$10,000 limit does not apply separately to each individual item, listing, booking, rental day, invoice or claim.
Instead, the limit applies to the full rental occasion as a whole.
For example, if a borrower rents a camera, two lenses and accessories for the same rental period, the total Film & Photo guarantee limit is still up to £10,000 / US$10,000 / CA$10,000 for that rental occasion, not per item.
What is a Film & Photography Rental Occasion?
A Film & Photography Rental Occasion means all Film & Photo rentals, bookings, listings, item bundles, items and accessories involving the same people and the same, or substantially the same, rental dates.
This includes situations where the same lender, borrower, or related person uses more than one Hygglo account, or acts on behalf of another person.
In simple terms: the Film & Photo compensation limit applies to the rental occasion as a whole, not separately to each account, listing, booking, item, rental day, invoice or claim.
When can multiple bookings count as the same rental occasion?
Hygglo may treat several Film & Photo bookings as one Film & Photography Rental Occasion if:
The rental periods overlap
The start, handover, collection or return dates are the same or close together
The borrower keeps possession of Film & Photo equipment continuously across more than one booking
The bookings, listings or items appear to have been split, extended, staggered, rebooked or changed in order to get more than one compensation limit
The same lender, borrower, or related person uses several Hygglo accounts to list, rent, book or manage the same or connected Film & Photo rental
Splitting one rental into several bookings, listings, item bundles or accounts does not create several separate Film & Photo limits.
When are Film & Photo rentals treated as separate?
Separate Film & Photo rentals will not automatically be grouped together just because they involve the same lender and borrower.
They may be treated as separate if:
The first rental has ended
The items have been returned
The next rental is for a genuinely separate rental period
The bookings were not split, arranged or managed through multiple accounts to increase the amount payable under the guarantee
Hygglo does not consider the bookings to be connected, extended, rebooked, or arranged in a way that would make them part of the same Film & Photography Rental Occasion.
UK, US & Canada: other guarantee limits
The Hygglo Lender Guarantee has different limits depending on the type of item rented:
Item type | Maximum guarantee limit |
Film & Photography equipment | Up to £10,000 / US$10,000 / CA$10,000 per Film & Photography Rental Occasion |
Vehicles, including trailers | Up to £30,000 / US$30,000 / CA$30,000 per item |
General items | Up to £3,000 / US$3,000 / CA$3,000 per item |
For vehicles, trailers and general items, the limit applies per item.
These categories are not grouped into a Film & Photography Rental Occasion in the same way as Film & Photo items.
Adding a non-Film & Photo item to a rental does not increase, reset or duplicate the Film & Photo limit.
Excess compensation if your own insurance pays out
If your private insurance, such as home insurance, pays out for the damage, Hygglo or Omocom may reimburse your excess.
Market | Maximum excess compensation |
Sweden, Norway, Denmark | Up to 10,000 SEK / NOK / DKK |
Finland | Up to 1,000 EUR |
UK, US, Canada | Up to £1,000 / US$1,000 / CA$1,000 |
You cannot claim both all-risk coverage and excess compensation for the same damage event.

Drones are not covered under Omocom’s all-risk insurance, but they are covered under the Hygglo Lender Guarantee, up to the same Film & Photo compensation limits.

Nordics: Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland
