Why you need to estimate the value of your items

Updated this week

When you list an item on Hygglo, you will be asked to estimate its value. This helps create a safer rental experience and ensures the right level of protection if something goes wrong.

Why is this important?

The estimated value helps Hygglo verify your item correctly and apply the appropriate coverage under our protection policies. It also helps improve price recommendations and ensure fair listings.

If a claim ever needs to be made, compensation will always be based on the item’s current market value. Providing an accurate estimate simply helps our system and team perform the correct verification checks and handle potential claims efficiently.

How to know what your item is worth

You do not need an exact figure, but your estimate should reflect the realistic market value of the item. As a guide:

  • Use a proof of purchase, a recent receipt, or the current second-hand price as a reference.

  • An approximate value is fine, as long as it reflects what the item would reasonably sell for today.

If your estimate is slightly off, it will not affect your chances of compensation for issues such as damage or theft.

Where the value is shown

The value you enter is not visible publicly on the platform. It is only visible to you and used internally by Hygglo for verification and support purposes.

How to add or update the value of your item

When creating a new listing

  • Enter the item’s estimated value in the required field before publishing your listing.

To update an existing listing

  1. Go to Listings.

  2. Select the listing you want to update.

  3. Click Edit ad.

  4. Scroll to the value field and update the amount.

  5. Save your changes by pressing the “Update ad” button.

By keeping your item’s value accurate, you help ensure a safe and transparent rental process, proper protection if something goes wrong, and better price recommendations for future rentals.
