Important Things to Consider When Renting a Log Splitter
Important Things to Consider When Renting a Log Splitter
Updated over 2 weeks ago
  • Choose the right log splitter for the job
Log splitters vary in strength—a weaker machine may struggle with harder wood types.

  • Ensure smooth operation
The splitter should run evenly through the wood. If it hesitates or stops, the wood may be too thick or too hard for the machine.

  • Turn off the machine if it gets stuck
If the log splitter cannot process a piece of wood, turn it off before attempting to remove the log.

  • Split deciduous wood when damp
Firewood from deciduous trees is easier to split when it still contains some moisture.

  • Split coniferous wood when dry
Firewood from coniferous trees is best split when it has dried out.
