1. Check the weight – don’t overload
Verify your car’s maximum roof load capacity.
As a rule of thumb, most cars can handle around 100 kg, but you must deduct about 25 kg for the roof box and racks.
This leaves approximately 75 kg for luggage. For better stability, place heavy items in the car and lighter items in the roof box.
2. Secure your luggage
Always strap down the items inside the roof box to prevent movement and potential damage during braking.
3. Avoid overpacking
Do not force the roof box closed, as excessive pressure can crack or damage it.
4. Be aware of increased height
A roof box adds 40–60 cm to your car’s height, which can affect stability.
Check clearance before entering garages, parking structures, or areas with low overhead clearance.
5. Winter tip: Prevent frozen locks
Bring lock spray if you’re driving in cold weather to avoid frozen locks.
